Ecoply® Surface Grades

The below tables show the typical surface appearance of Ecoply® plywood and some suitable applications for each surface grade.

Natural variations in sheet grain pattern and surface colour are to be expected, with images being indicative of sheet appearance only. Surface grade specifications are fully defined in AS/NZS2269.

Ecoply Structural Square Edge Products

Face Grade B

Appearance grade with a solid sanded surface. Suitable for clear, stain and paint finishes.

Possible Uses:

  • Joinery/signs
  • Internal linings
  • Engineering components where a high visual finish is required.

Face Grade C

Solid sanded surface with filled holes and splits, with inter-grown knots. Suitable for a basic painted finish.

Possible Uses:

  • General construction
  • Structural gussets
  • Bins, boxes, crates
  • Hoardings.

Face Grade D

Non-appearance grade allowing open imperfections up to 75 mm across the face veneer. Splits and knots allowable.

Possible Uses:

  • Non visual bracing
  • Strength critical pallets
  • Portal frame webs.

Specialty Ecoply Products

Ecoply® Grooved Lining

High-appearance, smooth sanded face with 'V' grooves at 100 mm centres.
Classic Grade: for clear, stain and paint finishes.

Possible Uses:

  • Internal linings
  • Partitions and feature walls
  • Sheltered soffits (H3 LOSP treated only).

Ecoply® Flooring

Solid-sanded C-Grade surface with tongue and groove edge profile on long edges. Features a second void-free layer under face veneer.

Possible Uses:

  • Substrate for flooring coverings such as tiles and rigid coverings
  • Substrate for membrane systems where a smooth surface is required.

Ecoply® Roofing

Unfilled D-Grade surface with tongue and groove profile on long edges.

Possible Uses:

  • Substrate for asphalt shingles
  • Substrate for roof systems where a smooth substrate is not required.
